Costs

Knowing what it costs.

How much does a landing page cost? A simple page you build yourself in a page builder mainly costs time and a subscription. A custom landing page, with its own design, strong copy and good tracking, takes a few days of work. The difference lies in what the page needs to do.

In this article you will learn what drives the price, which routes there are and which costs are often forgotten. Want to know how to build such a page? Read how to create a landing page first. Here we focus on the money.

How much does a landing page cost on average?

There is no fixed amount. Agencies and freelancers charge very differently, and no two landing pages are the same. A page for one ad campaign with a short form is different from a page with a price calculator, video and a link to your customer system.

So don't look at an average, look at what is included in the price. For every quote, ask: who writes the copy, who does the design, is the form connected and is visitor behaviour tracked? Only then can you compare prices fairly. Two quotes for the same amount can promise very different things.

Which factors determine the price of a landing page?

These are the items that make the biggest difference:

  • Design. Adapting an existing template is quick. A custom design that fits your brand and your audience takes more time.
  • Copy. A landing page stands or falls with its copy. Do you supply it yourself, or does someone need to write and sharpen it?
  • Form and follow-up. A simple contact form is a small job. A form that puts enquiries straight into your CRM or email tool needs an integration.
  • Speed and technology. A page that loads quickly on mobile works better for visitors and for your ads. That takes good build quality, not just a nice picture.
  • Tracking. Measuring conversions, meaning the page's goal such as an enquiry or a phone call, takes some extra setup in Google Analytics and Google Ads.
  • Variants. If you want to test two versions against each other, a so-called A/B test, you are essentially building two pages.
  • Imagery. Having your own photos or video made costs extra, but often makes your page more credible than stock photos.

The more of these points you handle yourself, the lower the price. But saving on copy and tracking is often the most expensive saving. You then don't know why the page isn't working, and you keep paying for traffic that delivers nothing.

Three routes: page builder, template or custom

Broadly, there are three ways to get a landing page. Each route has a different price level.

  • Building it yourself in a page builder. You pay a monthly subscription (indication only, check the current price) and do everything yourself. Handy for testing something quickly. Downside: you are tied to the platform and the page is often separate from your own website.
  • A template within your own website. Your web developer creates a new page from existing blocks. Affordable and fast, and the page sits on your own domain. But less freedom in the layout.
  • A custom landing page. Design, copy and technology are made for one goal and one audience. More expensive at the start, but you steer precisely towards what the visitor needs to do.

Which route fits depends on what is at stake. If you send ad budget to it every month, a better page often pays for itself quickly. For a one-off promotion or a short test, a template is usually enough.

Costs people often forget

The build price is only part of the story. These items often come on top:

  • Traffic. A landing page without visitors delivers nothing. Usually you pay for ads, for example in Google Ads or on social media.
  • Campaign management. Someone has to set up ads, adjust them and keep an eye on the budget. If you do it yourself, it costs you hours.
  • Changes. After a few weeks you see what works. Improving headlines, buttons or the form is extra work.
  • Subscriptions. Page builders, form tools and email tools often charge per month.
  • Hosting and maintenance. If the page is on your own site, it usually falls under your existing hosting and maintenance. If it is on a separate platform, you pay for that separately.

When does a landing page pay for itself?

Do a simple calculation. How much is one new customer worth to you? Say a customer earns you a few hundred euros in profit on average. Then a good page only needs to bring in a handful of extra customers to earn back the build costs.

That only works if you measure. Without conversion tracking you don't know how many enquiries come from the page. So before launch, decide which action counts as success, such as a submitted form or a click on the call button. In measuring conversions you can read how to go about it.

A rule of thumb: the more ad budget you send to a page, the more it pays to invest in the page itself. A small improvement in the number of enquiries then counts again every month. The reverse is also true: with little traffic, an expensive page makes little sense.

How to keep your landing page costs down

  • Start with one goal. One page, one audience, one action. A page that tries to do everything costs more and works worse.
  • Supply the basics. Put your offer, prices, FAQs and reviews on paper in advance. That saves writing and research time.
  • Reuse your brand identity. Colours, fonts and photos that already exist don't need to be designed again.
  • Build on your own website. A fixed template for landing pages makes every next page cheaper.
  • Test small. Start simple, see what works and only then invest in expanding.
  • Agree a fixed price. Then you know where you stand in advance and avoid surprises afterwards.

Having a landing page built by Violexa

At Violexa we usually build landing pages as part of a website or a campaign. A custom website or web application starts from €1,799 excl. VAT (€2,177 incl. VAT) per project. That includes design, build, a design that works on every screen, SEO basics and Google Analytics, a CMS integration and guidance on managing it. With a CMS, the system you use to edit text yourself, you can then create new pages on the same template.

Want us to bring in visitors too? That's possible through online marketing, from €599 excl. VAT (€725 incl. VAT) per month. We then work on things like SEO, Google Ads or social media. There is no minimum term: you cancel monthly with one month's notice. Larger projects get a fixed price up front, in writing.

Not sure what you need? Book a free quickscan. In 30 minutes, online or in person, we look at your goal and your current site. Afterwards you get short written advice with a price indication. No commitment.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a landing page cost per month?

Building a landing page is usually a one-off expense. Per month you mainly pay for hosting, any tool subscriptions and the traffic, such as ads. If the page is on your own website, hosting and maintenance often fall under what you already pay.

Can I create a landing page myself?

Yes, with a page builder or your own website's CMS that works fine. The hardest part is usually not the technology, but persuasive copy and good tracking. Start simple and get help if you send a lot of budget to the page.

Is a landing page the same as a homepage?

No. A homepage tells people who you are and guides visitors to the rest of your site. A landing page has one goal, such as a quote request, and removes distractions as much as possible. That is why it often works better for ads.

How many landing pages do you need?

Start with one page per important offer or per audience. If you advertise different services, a separate page per service usually works better than one general page. Only expand once you see what works.
